Patent Reg. No. Name of Invention Name of Inventors Description of Invention
2151/DEL/04 Bruchek: Dot ELISA kit for Brucella melitensis detection in goats and sheep V.K.Gupta The brucellosis in goats and sheep exclusively caused by Brucella melitensis and there is no diagnostic kit available in India which can exclusively detect brucellosis in goats and sheep. This dot-ELISA kit detects antibodies to Brucella melitensis. Sample antibodies bind to Brucella melitensis antigen molecules attached to the nitrocellulose membrane of the spikes of the 12 spiked plastic comb. Binding of these antibodies is detected by reaction with horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-labeled affinity-purified antibodies to goat and sheep immunoglobulins. Attached HRP-labeled antibodies are detected by addition of enzyme substrate and visualized by subsequent bluish-brown color product development. Strong color development indicates the presence of antibody to Brucella melitensis in the sample. No color development indicates the absence of antibody to Brucella melitensis in the sample. This test can be used to detect antibodies in serum.
749/DEL/2010 Novel herbal anti-diarrhoeal drug for animals Ashok Kumar, M.C.Sharma, V.S.Vihan, V.K.Gupta and Vinod Kumar Gupta This is an extract base herbal anti bacterial anti-diarrhoeal powder for management of diarrhea in animals. This herbal powder comprises the extracts of three plants with the additives effect to each other. Antibacterial efficacy was studied on Escherichia coli, most prevalent entero- pathogens by disc diffusion and bioautography techniques. Chemical compatibility of mixture was tested to avoid antagonistic effect. Anti-diarrhoeal activity was tested in laboratory animal and clinical cases of diarrhea in goat and kids. The dose rate is 10 mg/kg orally twice a day. It can be used or as co-prescription for treatment of diarrhea with specific drugs. Herbal Products will reduce the dependence of antibiotic in management of diarrhea and help to overcome the problem drug resistance.
750/DEL/2010 Herbal anticoccidial drug "Herbicox" D.K.Sharma and Ashok Kumar HERBICOX: a herbal preparation to modulate the coccidiosis, a serious protozoan disease problem of goat leading severe production losses. Developed to be used on organized and unorganized goat units. Controls coccidiosis without any side effect and enhances productions. Can be used as feed supplement also.
751/DEL/2010 Plate ELISA kit for diagnosis of Johne's disease S.V.Singh and M.C.Sharma Johne's Disease (JD) or paratuberculosis in ruminants is a chronic, granulomatous enteritis of ruminants caused by an intestinal infection with an environmental bacterial pathogen, Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP).Disease causes significant economic losses to the dairy industry body weight loss, reduction of milk production, diarrhea, premature culling of animals and eventual death of infected animals. The 68% of US dairy herds are infected with JD resulted in estimated annual loss of $220 million to the dairy industry(USDA 2007).Despite long and intensive national level efforts for the control of JD in US ,they are still far fro preventing significant economic impact of this formidable disease. MAP has also been associated with Crohn's disease in humans. MAP is not killed during pasteurization therefore transmission of JD through MAP-contaminated food products has been suggested. Control of MAP is also important for preventing potential threats of MAP to human health.
